Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adalberto Hancock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tran is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Blockbuster Night Part 1. Andrew Tran has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Adalberto Hancock's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Adalberto Hancock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Tran!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hancock gets caught napping as Tran dives in and scores a takedown. Hancock manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hancock keeping full guard, as Tran tries to pass.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tran's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hancock avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Tran passes into half guard.
Hancock is not content to let Tran control the position.

Hancock looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hancock moves into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hancock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tran doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tran manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hancock looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hancock utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hancock has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tran is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hancock.

The referee asks Tran politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tran prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hancock manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tran's best efforts.
Hancock makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hancock.

Tran is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hancock looking to score a takedown here. Tran is defending well but Hancock drives through and ends up in Tran's guard.
Tran throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Tran working for a triangle but Hancock defends it easily.
Hancock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tran works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Tran keeping moving, preventing Hancock from controlling successfully.
Tran is trying to control the position but Hancock postures up.
Tran tries to strike from the bottom.

Tran is working an open guard so Hancock takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hancock closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tran quickly recovers to half guard.
Tran is looking for a sweep. Hancock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hancock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tran is just riding it out for now. Hancock eventually gives up the hold.

Hancock slows the pace down in half guard.
Hancock seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tran does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Tran is controlling Hancock's trapped leg to prevent Hancock from advancing to side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Hancock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tran throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hancock lands a couple of digs.

Hancock has gone for a leg lock! Tran slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hancock's guard.

Tran is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hancock working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tran's head.

Hancock postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tran is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hancock, into his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hancock is on top in guard.

Hancock trying to control the position from guard on top but Tran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tran wants to sweep but no luck.
Tran trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Tran is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hancock is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tran can do to turn this around?
Hancock is looking to work some ground and pound but Tran has wrist control.
Hancock won't allow Tran to sweep him here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Tran feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Tran decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hancock, up you get!

Tran tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tran looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Tran goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Tran has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Hancock has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Tran successfully pulls guard.
Hancock throwing strikes but missing.

Hancock postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tran is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hancock, into his guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tran gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tran takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Tran lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Tran tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hancock was well out of range. Poor timing from Tran.

Hancock shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tran is trying to defend but Hancock finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hancock is working for a kimura but Tran is defending it quite comfortably.
Tran keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Adalberto Hancock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hancock winds up and cracks Tran with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tran is looking to improve his position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hancock is working Tran over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hancock drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hancock jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Andrew Tran has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tran escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hancock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

I would just about give that final round to Andrew Tran.
I think Hancock has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
