Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Galen Atkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Thompson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thompson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Atkins did well to prevent Thompson getting side control.

Thompson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Atkins has managed to free his arm - good work.
Atkins is looking to improve his position.
Thompson content to control rather than advance.
Atkins is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson is looking for a kimura but Atkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thompson to get the leverage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Atkins fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Thompson tries to clinch but Atkins moves out of range.
Thompson moves in looking to clinch but Atkins pushes him off.
Atkins tries to counter by clinching up but Thompson breaks away and moves out of range.

Thompson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Atkins quickly recovers to half guard.
Thompson misses with a head shot. Atkins uses the momentum to regain guard.
Thompson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Thompson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Thompson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Atkins's guard.
Atkins is looking to stand up but Thompson isn't so interested in that idea.
Atkins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Thompson wants to control from the top but Atkins keeps moving.

Thompson throws a big elbow that misses.
Thompson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Atkins's guard.

Thompson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thompson is keen to just control but Atkins is a slippery customer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Atkins gets caught napping as Thompson dives in and scores a takedown. Atkins manages to retain guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Thompson is keen to just control but Atkins is a slippery customer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Thompson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Atkins is on top in guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Thompson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thompson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Atkins is not content to let Thompson control the position.

Thompson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Atkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Atkins has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Thompson is on him like a limpet, forcing Atkins back against the cage.

Thompson has picked Atkins up - he's going for a ride! Thompson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Thompson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Atkins was covering up waiting for the punch and Thompson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Atkins is working an open guard so Thompson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
