Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Rouge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuuichi Toda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rouge throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Rouge steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Toda.
Ryuuichi Toda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rouge throws a leg kick that misses.
Rouge pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Toda shoots in but no luck this time.
A head kick misses from Rouge.
Toda lands a really nice looking cross but Rouge seems unphased.
Rouge explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Rouge fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Toda throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rouge tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Toda is in Rouge's guard.
Toda has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Power Plant. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Toda lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Toda passes Rouge's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Toda decides to stand and escape the position.

Rouge pivots, looking for a leg kick but Toda is out of range and Rouge settles back down.

Toda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rouge wants to control but Toda postures up.
Toda grinds an elbow into Rouge's temple.
Toda content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Rouge is trying to control Toda's posture but Toda avoids it.

Rouge is trying to escape the position but Toda is controlling the position.

Rouge tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Toda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Toda is staying tight to Rouge's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Toda works to advance to full mount. Rouge defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Toda jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rouge manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Toda creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Toda just content to control the position.
Rouge can't do much from the bottom here.
Toda is staying tight to Rouge's torso, preventing him from escaping.
It looks like Toda might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Toda decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rouge to his feet.

Toda shoots in but no luck this time.

Toda looks to score with a jab to the body but Rouge is just out of range.
Toda avoids the body shot from Rouge.
Rouge pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rouge throws a head kick that misses.
Crunch! Rouge slams his shin into Toda's torso.
Toda fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Rouge tries a head kick but it misses.
Rouge looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Toda dives in and grabs Rouge's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rouge pushes down on Toda's head and hops out.
Rouge was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rouge enables Toda to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rouge manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Toda postures up.
Toda is working Rouge over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Toda trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rouge looking to hit a scissor sweep but Toda is one step ahead there.
Toda passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rouge.
Toda misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rouge misses with a head kick.
Toda shoots for a takedown but Rouge saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rouge throws a sloppy head kick and Toda moves out of range easily.
Toda now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Rouge lands with a kick to the temple. Toda shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Ryuuichi Toda has been cut.
Rouge throws a leg kick but Toda moved away.
Rouge misses with an attempted mid kick.
Toda digs a good body shot into Rouge's ribs.
Toda shoots in for a takedown but Rouge shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Alex Rouge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryuuichi Toda.

Toda changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rouge looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Toda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Toda will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Toda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Toda is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rouge sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Rouge tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Toda is able to avoid easily.
Rouge takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Toda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rouge to the mat! Rouge manages to get full guard.

Toda has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
