The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruiz's waist but Ruiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCarthy off to one side.
Ruiz lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
No luck for McCarthy with that takedown attempt.
Ruiz shoots in but no luck this time.
Ruiz misses with a head kick.
Ruiz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCarthy sprawls well. McCarthy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ruiz gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy thumps Ruiz with a low kick.

Ruiz throws a head kick but McCarthy moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from McCarthy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Ruiz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Ruiz looking for a triangle here. McCarthy is fighting it but it looks tight! Ruiz pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, McCarthy is tapping out - this one is all over!
