The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

smith moves into the clinch.
Silva tries a knee to the head but smith blocks it.

Silva manages to break the clinch.
smith slips a jab and a cross from Silva.
smith shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva slips a jab from smith.
smith throws a left and a right that both miss
and Silva counters with a one-two to the body.

letting Silva counter with a right hand.
smith closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. smith pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and smith counters with a body kick that stops Silva in his tracks momentarily.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
smith swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Silva counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Silva.
smith tries to land knees in the clinch but Silva avoids the damage to the body.
smith looks gassed!
Silva keeps control of smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Silva tries for a takedown. No joy.
smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silva just stands there and leans against the cage.
Anderson Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of tony smith.

smith using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Silva has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

smith is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Silva's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Silva! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and smith has tapped! This one is allllll over!
