Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasqs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregory comes into the arena with Chumbawamba - English Rebel Songs blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Gregory!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Cain Velasqs!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasqs fails to land the takedown.
Gregory is looking for a counter combo.
Gregory doesn't manage to clinch there - Velasqs circles away.
Velasqs shoots in but Gregory avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Velasqs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gregory as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Gregory was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Paul Gregory has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasqs.

Gregory moves away from the strike by Velasqs.
Gregory throws a big counter combination but Velasqs scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Velasqs cracks Gregory with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Velasqs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gregory but Gregory pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Velasqs throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gregory on the side of the head.

Velasqs shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gregory is trying to defend but Velasqs finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Velasqs is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Gregory to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Velasqs is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gregory might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gregory knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Velasqs on the ground.

Velasqs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gregory's guard.


Velasqs has gone for a leg lock! Gregory slips out almost immediately though and dives into Velasqs's guard.

A close round but Cain Velasqs will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gregory's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gregory creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Velasqs sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Velasqs looks to move to half guard but instead Gregory has passed into mount! Damn!

Velasqs isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gregory stacks Velasqs on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gregory!

We've been told by Gregory's head coaches at CEC Underdark that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Gregory tries to stall but Velasqs uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

It looks like Cain Velasqs has been cut.

Velasqs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gregory walks away with a smile on his face. Velasqs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
