And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Virastuk has closed the distance and engaged Hughes in a clinch.
Hughes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Virastuk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hughes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Virastuk after a bit of a struggle.
Hughes tries to pull guard but Virastuk forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hughes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Hughes is breathing heavily.
Virastuk stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Virastuk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Virastuk throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hughes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Virastuk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Vasily Virastuk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Virastuk and Hughes goes tumbling to the canvas! Virastuk follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Hughes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Let's hope that Virastuk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Virastuk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Virastuk clinches up with Hughes and pushes him back against the cage.

Hughes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Virastuk prevents it.
Hughes is trapped in a tight thai clinch here. Virastuk pulls him left and then right before unleashing a vicious knee to the head. Oh damn - Hughes is out cold! That's some serious business! What a knockout!
