PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aldo Amado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Horizon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horizon has chosen Bring your whole crew as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aldo Amado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evan Horizon!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amado misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horizon steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Horizon slips under a jab.
A head kick misses from Amado.
Amado throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Amado misses with the combination.
Horizon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Horizon feints a counter leg kick.
Horizon misses with an attempted mid kick.
Horizon throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

We've been told by Amado's head coaches at Cheap Elites! Golden Eye Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Amado throws a right hand that Horizon ducks under and follows up with a left that Horizon also avoids with ease.
Horizon is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Amado just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amado takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
No joy there for Amado, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Amado throws a body shot but no joy.
Horizon shapes to counter with a head kick.
Amado looks to land a right hand but Horizon moved out of range.
Amado throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Horizon counters with a nice uppercut.
Horizon connects with a right hand. Amado shakes it off.

Horizon lands a big head kick that sends Amado tumbling to the mat! Horizon takes a step backwards and waves Amado back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Aldo Amado has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Amado dodges the punch combination from Horizon.
Amado throws a big counter combination but Horizon scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Amado blocks a head kick by Horizon.
Horizon comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Horizon.

and Horizon counters with an outside leg kick.

Horizon fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Horizon lands with a nice body kick.
Horizon throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Horizon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Amado will feel that in the morning.
Horizon thuds his shin into the meat of Amado's side.
Horizon lands a nice leg kick that just misses Amado's sensitive parts.
Amado takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Horizon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Amado napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Amado's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result.
Horizon in side control, just content to control the action for now.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Horizon working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

It looks like Horizon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Amado prevents Horizon from improving position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Horizon taking a breather here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Evan Horizon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Aldo Amado's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horizon bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Amado throws a head kick but Horizon moves out of range.
Horizon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Horizon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Amado throws a wild body kick that Horizon sees coming a mile off.

Horizon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Amado tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Horizon is in Amado's guard.
Amado is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Horizon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amado swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Horizon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Horizon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Amado is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Horizon.
Amado goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Amado throws a series of punches but Horizon avoids them all with ease.
Horizon lands with a kick to the ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Amado drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Horizon lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Horizon is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

A frustrated look appears on Amado's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Horizon tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Amado avoids it.

Evan Horizon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Horizon is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Amado is defending well for now.

Amado is trying to push Horizon away but Horizon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Horizon creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Amado's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Amado drops to his knees and Horizon pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Evan Horizon!
A less than humble Evan Horizon misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
