Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathon Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rora Rurire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonathon Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rora Rurire!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa darts in and clinches Rurire up against the cage.

Rurire pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rurire tries to land a front kick but Sosa steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Rurire scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rurire content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Let's hope that Rurire has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Rurire tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rurire has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sosa throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Sosa is letting Rurire control him for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sosa tries to improve position but can't.
Rurire wants to stand but Sosa is controlling his arm.
You can see the frustration on Sosa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rurire tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sosa seems a little lost for a moment, as Rurire dominates the positioning.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sosa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sosa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rurire manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rurire will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rurire shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sosa's guard.
Rurire seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rurire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sosa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rurire is one step ahead there.
Rurire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sosa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rurire passes into half guard.
Sosa gets full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rurire is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rurire wants to stand but Sosa is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sosa wants to improve his position but instead Rurire has moved into half guard.
Rurire drops an elbow to the side of Sosa's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rurire takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rurire's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Sosa tries to roll over but Rurire keeps him under control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rora Rurire dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rurire shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sosa defends it nicely.
Sosa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sosa enables Rurire to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sosa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sosa is trying to control the position but Rurire postures up.

Rurire with a nice head shot there.
Sosa has a closed guard, preventing Rurire from standing up.
Rurire sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sosa's guard.
Rurire seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rurire seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Rurire is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sosa!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rurire is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sosa is surviving well by controlling Rurire's body position as best he can.
Sosa is desperately trying to improve his position but Rurire has a good base and remains in mount.
Rurire fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Sosa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rurire is landing with some decent strikes but Sosa is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Sosa is rocked!


It looks like Jonathon Sosa has been cut.
Rurire controlling from mount.
Oh Sosa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rurire drops a big elbow. That's hurt Sosa! More shots from Rurire and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rora Rurire!
