Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Snorri Vilhjalmur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymond Byers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Snorri Vilhjalmur has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Snorri Vilhjalmur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raymond Byers!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vilhjalmur tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Byers paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Vilhjalmur darts in and clinches Byers up against the cage.

Byers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A chopping leg kick lands by Vilhjalmur.
A nice leg kick lands there from Vilhjalmur.
Byers avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vilhjalmur wants to clinch.
Vilhjalmur tries to clinch but Byers moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vilhjalmur gets caught flat footed, as Byers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Byers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Byers wants to control from the top but Vilhjalmur keeps moving.

Vilhjalmur is looking to stand up but Byers isn't so interested in that idea.
Byers is pushing down on Vilhjalmur's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vilhjalmur is fighting to maintain full guard but Byers has managed to sneak the leg through.
Byers prevents Vilhjalmur from standing back up.
Vilhjalmur knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Byers on the ground.
Byers is trying to control the action in half guard but Vilhjalmur is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Byers slows the pace down in half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Byers throws a nice looking combination but Vilhjalmur bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vilhjalmur tries to clinch there but Byers circles away.
Byers avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Snorri Vilhjalmur seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Byers fails to land the takedown.
Byers shoots in but Vilhjalmur avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vilhjalmur tries to close the distance and clinch up but Byers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Byers effectively controlling the action here.

Byers tries to break the clinch but Vilhjalmur is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Byers is trying to break the clinch but Vilhjalmur has him pressed against the cage.
Vilhjalmur looking to throw knees to the head but Byers is blocking nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Byers stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Byers is trying to pull guard but Vilhjalmur turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Snorri Vilhjalmur has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raymond Byers.
Byers managing to block the knees to the body from Vilhjalmur.
Byers wants to break the clinch but can't.
Byers on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vilhjalmur has Byers pressed against the cage.
Vilhjalmur misses with a hook to the ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Raymond Byers will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Byers circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vilhjalmur could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vilhjalmur wants to clinch

and Byers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vilhjalmur won't be happy with that.
Vilhjalmur dodges the ground and pound from Byers.
Vilhjalmur is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Byers is controlling him well.
Vilhjalmur is not content to let Byers control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Byers has knee on belly and moves into mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Byers trying to control but Vilhjalmur is having none of it.

Vilhjalmur holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Byers tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Byers cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Byers working for a guillotine from mount but Vilhjalmur is in no mood to give up.
Byers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Byers throws some wild stikes that Vilhjalmur manages to avoid easily.

Vilhjalmur is squirming around, avoiding Byers's attempts to control the action.
Vilhjalmur on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vilhjalmur tries to get out of the position.

Byers trying to control but Vilhjalmur is having none of it.

Byers looking to secure an arm triangle but Vilhjalmur defends it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Byers thowing shots but they're missing.
Byers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Byers controlling from mount.
Byers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vilhjalmur can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Byers has isolated one of Vilhjalmur's arms. Vilhjalmur looking to fight him off but Byers twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
