PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Flash Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Leeroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Flash Rage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Leeroy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leeroy tries to avoid it but Rage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leeroy to the ground. Leeroy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rage rushes Leeroy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rage tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leeroy smiles and moves away.
Leeroy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rage as he jumps to the side.

and Leeroy counters with a shoot takedown. Rage fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flash Rage. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leeroy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rage, up you get!
Flash Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rage slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rage fails with the takedown

and Leeroy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rage is trying to break free.
Leeroy wants a takedown but no success here.
Rage tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leeroy smiles and moves away.
Rage ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Leeroy moves away.

and Leeroy moves into the clinch.

Leeroy drags the fight down to the ground.
Leeroy wants to stand and escape but Rage is having none of it.
Rage works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Leeroy is trying to stand.
Rage is pressing down on Leeroy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Leeroy is holding on for now.
Rage is thwarting Leeroy's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rage looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Leeroy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rage trying to control from half guard but Leeroy is working away.

Rage is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Leeroy keeps control of the position for the meantime.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leeroy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Leeroy has one foot on Rage's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Rage throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Leeroy.

Leeroy clinches up with Rage and pushes him back against the cage.

Leeroy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rage clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Leeroy keeps control of the position as Rage tries to break free.
Rage is breathing heavily.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Leeroy controlling the positon.
Rage is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The referee is taking a good look at Rage as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Leeroy!
Leeroy lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Leeroy has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rage's body.

Rage defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Rage tries to escape but Leeroy has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leeroy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rage.
Rage misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Rage decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rage decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Rage is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Leeroy pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Leeroy tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Leeroy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Leeroy is pressing down on Rage's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rage is holding on for now.
Leeroy is tying to control. Rage wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rage wants to get back to his feet.

Leeroy postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Rage to stand up.

and Leeroy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Leeroy pulls Rage in close to prevent any damage.
Leeroy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rage is one step ahead there.
Rage trying to control but Leeroy is working from the bottom.

Leeroy is trying to hold Rage in close to prevent damage but Rage has managed to pass into half guard.
Rage stops Leeroy from getting back to his feet.
Leeroy wants to get back to full guard.
Bruce Leeroy has got the better of the ground game so far.

Leeroy kicks off Rage and gets to his feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rage darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Rage shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Leeroy counters with a single leg into guard. Rage didn't expect that.
Leeroy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Leeroy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Leeroy ducks under a wild hook from Rage.
Rage tries to clinch but Leeroy moves away

and Leeroy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rage is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Leeroy is keeping busy.
Rage wants to break the clinch but can't.

Leeroy pulls guard successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Leeroy pushes Rage off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bruce Leeroy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Rage is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Leeroy.
Some wild striking there from Rage.
Leeroy staying out of range there.

Leeroy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rage to the mat! Rage manages to get full guard.

Leeroy gets to his feet. Rage looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Leeroy slips a jab and a cross from Rage.
Leeroy attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rage tries for a takedown but Leeroy circles away easily

and Leeroy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Leeroy content to stall in guard here.

Rage looking to control.

Leeroy stands and steps away. Rage gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rage throws a lazy right hand but Leeroy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rage misses the shot to the body.
Leeroy shoots in for a takedown but Rage shows good takedown defense.
Rage listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Leeroy wants to stand but Rage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rage wants to stand but Leeroy is controlling the position.
Leeroy advances position into side control!
Leeroy takes a little break here. Rage wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Leeroy stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rage lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Leeroy has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Leeroy and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

No luck for Leeroy with that takedown attempt.
Bruce Leeroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rage swats away the attempt to clinch by Leeroy.
Rage misses with a body shot.
Leeroy moves out of range as Rage strikes.

and Leeroy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rage's guard.
Flash Rage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rage can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Leeroy controls the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Leeroy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rage bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leeroy's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rage is looking to work some ground and pound but Leeroy has wrist control.
Leeroy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

I've got Leeroy winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
