Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Viacheslav Datsik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix throws an off balance right hand
and Datsik counters with a straight right hand.
Phoenix tries to score a power double leg takedown but Datsik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Phoenix somewhat.

Phoenix clinches up against the cage.
Phoenix blocks a body shot from Datsik.
Datsik lands a body shot in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phoenix breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Phoenix moves into the clinch.
Datsik lands an uppercut.
Datsik lands a damaging elbow.
Datsik lands a nice uppercut.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Datsik just misses with a elbow thrown towards Phoenix's brow.

Phoenix breaks the clinch.

and Phoenix counters with a big head kick but Datsik shrugs it off.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Datsik, right into the meat.
Viacheslav Datsik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Phoenix fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Datsik is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Phoenix.
Phoenix has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Datsik.
Datsik dips to his left and cracks Phoenix with an uppercut!
Datsik has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Datsik punishes Phoenix's body with a nice straight punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Datsik looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Phoenix drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A looping hook to the body misses from Phoenix. Datsik does a little dance to reset his feet.

Paul Phoenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Phoenix has taken the fight to the clinch.
Phoenix has had enough of the clinch but Datsik keeps him there for the moment.
Datsik misses with some punches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Datsik.
Phoenix tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Datsik just stands there and leans against the cage.
Datsik gets through Phoenix's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Datsik scores with a shot to the side of Phoenix's head.
Datsik managing to block the knees to the body from Phoenix.
Datsik throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Datsik lands an elbow just above Phoenix 's eye.
Phoenix avoids the elbow strike from Datsik, against the cage.
Datsik is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Phoenix is defending well for now.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Phoenix trying to control the position but instead, Datsik has worked for underhooks and has pushed Phoenix into the cage.

Viacheslav Datsik dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Phoenix on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Datsik. Datsik obviously looking to wear him down.

Phoenix changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Datsik fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Datsik lands an elbow that stopped Phoenix in his tracks for a moment.
Phoenix on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Datsik lands a damaging elbow.
Datsik pushes Phoenix against the cage. Datsik is working some dirty boxing. Datsik pushes off with a quick right hook! Phoenix goes down! Phoenix tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Datsik moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Viacheslav Datsik!
After the fight, Viacheslav Datsik was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
