Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cecil Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Richard David!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A little feinted left hand from Cooke on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Cooke tries to clinch up but David circles away and keeps his distance.
David throws a right and a left that both miss.
An inside leg kick lands from Cooke.
Cooke throws the left hand but David avoids the punch easily.

David clinches up with Cooke and pushes him back against the cage.

Cooke ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cooke no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooke looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
David with a nice head shot there.
Cooke keeping full guard, as David tries to pass.
Cooke pulls David in close to his closed guard and prevents David from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
David in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Cooke throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Cooke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. David doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. David manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cooke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

David wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
David is looking to control Cooke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can David avoid being mounted?
David is trying to stand.

Cooke is working for a kimura but David is defending it quite comfortably.
David really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cooke is trying for a kimura here. David looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Cooke wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cecil Cooke!
