Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Trap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Olivieira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olivieira has chosen POWER as his entrance music. Mike Trap looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Olivieira!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trap gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

I was talking to Trap's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Trap decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Olivieira, up you get!
Trap tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Trap changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Olivieira looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Olivieira is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Trap asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Trap really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Let's hope that Olivieira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Trap throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Olivieira.
Despite the aggression on Olivieira's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Trap gets the takedown into side control.
Olivieira is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Trap is controlling him well.
Trap is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Olivieira can do to turn this around?

Mike Trap overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Trap here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Olivieira is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Trap has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olivieira throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Trap wants to pass to mount but Olivieira is defending the position.

Olivieira is trying to stand up here but Trap is controlling him well.
Trap thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Olivieira wants to get back to his feet.
Olivieira is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Olivieira is continuing to stall.
