PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erico Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Erico Drake was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sebastian Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erico Drake!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Drake moves into the clinch successfully.
A short right from Drake.
Rutten wants to break free but Drake has control.
Drake tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Drake keeps control of Rutten as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Drake prevents Rutten from breaking the clinch.
Drake drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rutten gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Drake lands a shoulder strike.
Drake keeps control of Rutten as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Rutten is trying to break the clinch but Drake is controlling him.

Drake escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rutten stuffs the takedown attempt from Drake. Drake gets slowly back to his feet.
Sebastian Rutten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erico Drake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rutten just misses with a punch to the body.
Rutten scores with a push kick.
No joy there for Drake, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Drake looks to land a right hand but Rutten moved out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rutten tries a head kick but it misses.
Rutten takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Drake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Drake fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rutten, pushing him back against the cage.
Drake is pushing Rutten up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Drake escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Drake forces Rutten back against the cage and clinches.
Drake goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rutten prevents it.

Drake breaks from the clinch.
A combination from Drake does no damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rutten throws a left and a right that both miss

and Drake counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Drake.

Drake has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rutten uses from the top position.
Rutten is looking to stand up but Drake won't let him.
Rutten wants to stand and escape but instead Drake has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Drake decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rutten, up you get!
Rutten throws a quick inside leg kick.
Drake throws a combination that misses
and Rutten counters with an inside leg kick.
Rutten fails to land with a series of punches.
Drake throws a counter combo.
Rutten is looking to chop away at Drake's legs.
Drake connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A head kick from Rutten lands but Drake takes it in his stride.

Drake clinches.
Drake lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Rutten working hard to break the clinch.
A short uppercut from Drake.

Drake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rutten feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Drake's calf.
Drake throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rutten counters with a nice body kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Rutten.
Drake throws a series of punches but Rutten moves out of range.
Drake throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rutten.

Drake shoots in but no luck this time.
Rutten swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rutten throws a body punch but Drake moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rutten rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Drake moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Drake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rutten circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from Rutten.
Rutten is breathing heavily.
Rutten on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Sebastian Rutten has been cut.
Drake avoids the head kick by Rutten.
Rutten tries to clinch up
and Drake counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Drake shoots in and drives through. Rutten sprawls well.
An attempted straight right counter from Rutten misses the target.
Drake misses with a combination
and Rutten counters with a good, hard body kick but Drake shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erico Drake dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sebastian Rutten's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rutten throws a head kick but Drake moves out of range.
As Rutten backs off Drake throws a huge counter combo but Rutten manages to avoid it all.
Rutten with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Drake to score with a decent uppercut.


Rutten is rocked!
Rutten throws a head kick that half lands.
Drake throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Rutten colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Drake as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Rutten is left battered and dazed whilst Drake and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erico Drake!
Erico Drake took some time post fight to say the following; 'I want to thank all my supporters and do not forget also to the coach who never tired of teaching me all these years. Besides that, I want to thank my parents who gave me encouragement. To my opponent, I hope you're all afraid to meet with me because I will kick your ass ...'.
