PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fabricio Schlemper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Dauden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schlemper comes to the ring accompanied by De Borest. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Schlemper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Dauden!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schlemper dives in for a single leg takedown but Dauden sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Schlemper gets caught flat footed, as Dauden shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Schlemper is pulling down on Dauden's head. It's preventing any offense from Dauden, at least for the moment.
Dauden wanted to stand there but Schlemper had control of the position.

Schlemper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Schlemper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Schlemper is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schlemper looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Schlemper is trying to control the position but Dauden postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Schlemper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dauden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dauden would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Schlemper pulls Dauden in close to prevent any damage.

Schlemper is looking for a triangle but Dauden pushes his legs off easily.
Dauden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Schlemper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dauden defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dauden wants to stand but Schlemper is controlling his posture from full guard.

Dauden got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schlemper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dauden has managed to get both his arms back between Schlemper's legs - danger averted.

Schlemper is looking for a triangle but Dauden pushes his legs off easily.
Schlemper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dauden wants to stand but Schlemper has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Schlemper fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Dauden moves into the clinch.
Dauden pressing his opponent against the ropes.
Dauden missing with knees to the body.
Schlemper fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Schlemper. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dauden pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schlemper shoots in for a takedown but Dauden shows good takedown defense.
Schlemper shoots and misses
and Dauden counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dauden throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Dauden paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Dauden decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
It looks like Dauden is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Schlemper wants to get back to full guard.
Dauden seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Dauden looks to get to his feet but Schlemper has hold of an arm. He's persisting with trying to stand up and Schlemper certainly isn't letting go of the arm! Schlemper seems to be the aggressor now - he's rolled into the armbar and extended it - Dauden is clearly in a lot of pain. He's tapping! He's tapping! What an ending! One minute you're in a dominant position, the next you've got a notch in the loss column - that's why we all love this sport!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fabricio Schlemper!
Post fight, Fabricio Schlemper stared into the camera and said 'Eu já falei sou foda,quem quiser se fuder é so marcar uma luta comigo'.
