Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shamil Astakhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eyden Pargrathian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pargrathian has chosen Judas Priest- Battle Hymn/ One Shot at Glory as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Shamil Astakhov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astakhov slaps away a takedown attempt from Pargrathian, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pargrathian.
Pargrathian tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Astakhov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Astakhov wants to control from the top but Pargrathian keeps moving.
Astakhov works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Astakhov wants to take a breather but Pargrathian is having none of it.
Astakhov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Astakhov drops an elbow to the side of Pargrathian's head.

Pargrathian is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Astakhov scores with a couple of nice shots.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pargrathian can do anything to dispel that myth.
Astakhov has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pargrathian is in all sorts of trouble here.
Astakhov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The referee warns Pargrathian that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Astakhov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
