PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Macotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Macotti's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Drown - Theory of a Deadman. On his way into the cage it seems that Marco Macotti has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Marco Macotti seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marco Macotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Austin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Macotti swats away the attempt to clinch by Austin.
Macotti closes this distance looking for a takedown but Austin circles away.
Austin moves away from the strike by Macotti.
Austin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Macotti has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Cave Fighting Team in the buildup to the fight.
Austin tries to clinch there but Macotti circles away.

Austin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Austin wants it to stay on the feet.
Austin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Macotti swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've been informed that Austin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Macotti.

Macotti tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Austin defends well and Macotti ends up having to push Austin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macotti tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macotti has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Macotti is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Austin has escaped the position, nice work there.

Macotti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Austin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Austin wants to control but Macotti postures up.
Macotti is looking to take a break and control but Austin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Macotti tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macotti has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Macotti working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Austin is trying to control Macotti's posture but Macotti avoids it.

Austin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Macotti working the ground and pound but Austin is defending the strikes.
Austin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Macotti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Macotti swings around for an armbar but Austin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Macotti's guard.
Austin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Macotti bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Austin's guard.

Macotti throwing strikes but missing.
Macotti wants to control from the top but Austin keeps moving.
Macotti postures up and lands a big shot to Austin's brow.
Macotti throws a big elbow that misses.
Macotti connects with a couple of short punches.

Macotti drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Austin dives on top into guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Macotti is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Austin wants to clinch up but Macotti keeps it at a distance.
Austin thuds his right hand into Macotti's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Macotti shoots in for a double leg but Austin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Austin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Macotti gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Macotti's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Austin cracks Macotti with a nice body shot.
Austin scores with a hook to the body.

Austin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Macotti avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Austin misses with a few strikes there.
Macotti moves forwards but Austin connects with a nice, crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Austin leaves Macotti with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Austin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Austin gets tackled into the cage by Macotti. Macotti maintains the clinch.

Oh Macotti is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Austin tries to clinch up but Macotti circles away and keeps his distance.
Macotti half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Austin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Austin tries to close the distance and clinch but Macotti swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Macotti seems to have got his legs back now.

Austin throws a big uppercut that drops Macotti! More strikes from Austin and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Macotti lies dazed against the cage as Austin celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Austin!
In his post fight interview, Jack Austin started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
