PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Sakke Somali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Norris Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Somali kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sakke - Oonhan Suomalainen. Chuck Norris Jr told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norris Jr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Somali moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Norris Jr throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Somali throws a leg kick but Norris Jr sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Norris Jr is trying to counter with his kicks.

Somali moves into the clinch.
Somali blocks an elbow strike.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Somali.
Norris Jr is trying to break the clinch but Somali has him pressed against the ropes.
A right handed body shot lands from Somali.
Norris Jr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Somali has him pressed against the ropes.
Somali throws an elbow that misses.
Norris Jr lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Norris Jr's coach down at ~T~ Troid - Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Norris Jr's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Somali swings wildly with an uppercut but Norris Jr uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norris Jr lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Norris Jr gets through Somali's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Somali tries to close the distance and clinch up but Norris Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Somali ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Norris Jr moves away.
Somali lands a head kick. Norris Jr smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Norris Jr wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Somali throws a poor cross that misses
and Norris Jr counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Somali throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Somali is looking to clinch but Norris Jr is avoiding it.

Norris Jr connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Somali's hands.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Somali lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Norris Jr has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Norris Jr and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Norris Jr throws out a counter right but Somali avoids it with no problem.
Norris Jr throws the left hand but Somali avoids the punch easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Norris Jr pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Somali does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Somali looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Norris Jr throws a front kick that sends Somali stumbling back into the ropes.
