Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shoto Murasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murasaki has chosen PRIDE FC Theme as his entrance music. Shoto Murasaki has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rick Vasquez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rick Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoto Murasaki!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasquez doesn't manage to clinch there - Murasaki circles away.
A nice side step and Murasaki releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Vasquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vasquez throws a right hand that Murasaki ducks under and follows up with a left that Murasaki also avoids with ease.

Murasaki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Murasaki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Vasquez wants to control but Murasaki postures up.
Vasquez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Murasaki is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Murasaki tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Murasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vasquez keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murasaki tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Vasquez is pushing Murasaki's head away, looking to escape. Murasaki manages to hold on to the position though.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Murasaki decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Vasquez rushes Murasaki and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vasquez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Murasaki is defending well.
Vasquez cracks Murasaki with a nice body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vasquez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Murasaki is keeping busy.
Vasquez trying to stall but Murasaki improves his position.
Murasaki stalls.
Vasquez taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Murasaki stops a takedown attempt from Vasquez.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Murasaki is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vasquez can't fight it off and eventually Murasaki manages to take the fight to the floor. Vasquez looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Murasaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Murasaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Vasquez pulls Murasaki in close to prevent any damage.
Murasaki wants to control from the top but Vasquez keeps moving.

Vasquez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vasquez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Vasquez working a defensive guard but Murasaki manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murasaki trying to control the action but Vasquez is working from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Vasquez is looking for a sweep.
Murasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vasquez keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Vasquez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vasquez tries to bench press Murasaki off him but Murasaki keeps the position.
Vasquez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Murasaki has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shoto Murasaki dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Murasaki lands with a right that hurts Vasquez. Vasquez looks to clinch but Murasaki throws a short knee that drops Vasquez. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Shoto Murasaki!
