PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dragan Novak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bull Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson has chosen Sentenced - Rot to Dead as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dragan Novak had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dragan Novak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bull Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Novak scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Novak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Novak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wilson keeps working.

Wilson is defending against the submission attempts here by Novak.

Novak wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Wilson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Novak closes the distance and clinches up with Wilson, looking for a takedown. Novak pushes Wilson against the cage but Wilson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Wilson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Novak is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wilson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Wilson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wilson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Novak has his takedown stuffed

and Wilson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Wilson is pushing Novak up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Wilson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wilson manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wilson stands up and beckons Novak to his feet.

Wilson is trying to trip Novak. He has hold of a leg but Novak is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wilson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Wilson counters with a shoot takedown. Novak fights it but they end up in guard.
Novak wants to hit a switch here but Wilson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Novak there!
Wilson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Wilson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

You get the feeling that Wilson really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well Wilson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
