Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Pu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chimo Kowalchuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rudy Pu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chimo Kowalchuck!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowalchuck closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kowalchuck tries to score with some ground and pound. Pu controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Pu is not content to let Kowalchuck control the position.
Pu taking punishment in the form of punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kowalchuck creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pu sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Pu tries to bench press Kowalchuck off him but Kowalchuck keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kowalchuck scores with a couple of short elbows.

Kowalchuck working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kowalchuck is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pu is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Kowalchuck in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Pu is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kowalchuck trying to control the position but Pu is working away.
Kowalchuck misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Pu is trying to control Kowalchuck's posture but Kowalchuck avoids it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kowalchuck with the ground and pound but Pu regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kowalchuck throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kowalchuck throws a strike but Pu avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Kowalchuck trying to control but Pu is working from the bottom.

Kowalchuck trying to control the position from guard on top but Pu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pu has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Kowalchuck postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalchuck accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kowalchuck lands a couple of digs.
Kowalchuck postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kowalchuck makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Kowalchuck thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pu looking for a sweep. Not yet Pu, not yet.
Pu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kowalchuck manages to get himself to full guard.


Pu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kowalchuck has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pu has managed to get both his arms back between Kowalchuck's legs - danger averted.

Pu tries to stand but Kowalchuck is controlling from the bottom.
Pu trying to control the position from guard on top but Kowalchuck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pu stands up and beckons Kowalchuck to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pu is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chimo Kowalchuck dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kowalchuck tries for a takedown but Pu sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kowalchuck uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pu.
Pu lands a nice shot that snaps Kowalchuck's head back.
Kowalchuck has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pu darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kowalchuck slips under a jab from Pu.
A head kick misses from Kowalchuck.
Pu thuds a left hand into Kowalchuck's body.
Pu throws a leg kick that misses.
Pu scores with a jab. Kowalchuck acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Kowalchuck tries to move into range but Pu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Kowalchuck avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kowalchuck tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kowalchuck staying out of range there.
Kowalchuck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kowalchuck throws a series of punches but Pu avoids them all with ease.
Kowalchuck is looking to clinch but Pu is avoiding it.
Rudy Pu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kowalchuck shoots in looking for a takedown. Pu tries to sprawl out of it but Kowalchuck keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Chimo Kowalchuck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kowalchuck avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rudy Pu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pu thuds his right hand into Kowalchuck's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kowalchuck ducks right into an uppercut from Pu.
Pu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kowalchuck slips a jab from Pu.
Kowalchuck fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rudy Pu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chimo Kowalchuck.
Pu jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pu scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kowalchuck doesn't seem bothered though.
Pu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kowalchuck stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Pu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pu throws an overhand right that lands on Kowalchuck's shoulder, as Kowalchuck tries to avoid the shot.
Pu misses the shot to the body.

Pu works Kowalchuck's body with a nice hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kowalchuck on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Rudy Pu is winning the standup battle so far.
Pu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Kowalchuck looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kowalchuck looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pu is looking to control Kowalchuck's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pu avoid being mounted?

Pu is refusing to be controlled, as Kowalchuck sits in half guard.

Kowalchuck is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pu can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pu wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kowalchuck.
Pu is looking to get to half guard.
Pu is working hard here to advance position.
Chimo Kowalchuck has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kowalchuck is working for a guillotine from mount but Pu frees his head quite easily.
Pu is looking to improve his position but Kowalchuck isn't that keen on the idea.
Kowalchuck thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Kowalchuck swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pu is now in Kowalchuck's guard. A big mistake from Kowalchuck there, giving up the dominant position!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kowalchuck has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kowalchuck there as he acknowledges the shot.
Pu tries to clinch up but Kowalchuck circles away and keeps his distance.

Kowalchuck uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pu.

Pu connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kowalchuck. Kowalchuck circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Pu connects with a single shot there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kowalchuck fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Pu drives through and clinches with Kowalchuck against the cage.
Pu gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kowalchuck.
Rudy Pu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chimo Kowalchuck.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pu.

Nice body punch from Pu.
Kowalchuck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Kowalchuck wants a takedown.
Kowalchuck's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Pu manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Pu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kowalchuck attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kowalchuck moves in looking to clinch but Pu pushes him off.

Pu's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kowalchuck under the eye.
Kowalchuck gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Kowalchuck pushes Pu up against the cage in a clinch.
Kowalchuck goes for a takedown attempt but Pu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

It seemed like Kowalchuck was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kowalchuck plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalchuck paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pu keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kowalchuck has a takedown stuffed.
Pu lands a nice looking body shot.

Rudy Pu showed his dominance in that final round.
