The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Deryabyn clinches up against the cage.
Atkinson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Deryabyn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
An inside leg kick from Atkinson misses.

Atkinson takes the fight into the clinch.
Atkinson wants to take the fight to the mat but Deryabyn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Deryabyn keeps control of Atkinson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Atkinson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Deryabyn has Atkinson pressed against the cage, preventing Atkinson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Atkinson tries for a takedown but Deryabyn manages to get underhooks.

Atkinson tries to land knees in the clinch but Deryabyn avoids the damage to the body.

Atkinson pulls Deryabyn into guard.
Deryabyn looking to sit in guard and control but Atkinson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Deryabyn is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Atkinson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Deryabyn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Deryabyn stands and steps away. Atkinson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Atkinson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Deryabyn.

and Deryabyn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Deryabyn tries to stand but can't do so whilst Atkinson controls his leg.

Deryabyn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Deryabyn with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Atkinson moves away from the strike by Deryabyn.
Deryabyn misses with a wild combination.
Atkinson tries to counter with a takedown but Deryabyn is quick to defend against it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Atkinson tries to clinch up but Deryabyn circles away and keeps his distance.

Deryabyn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Atkinson's guard.
Atkinson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Atkinson has control of Deryabyn's left arm, preventing Deryabyn from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deryabyn looking to improve position, pressing down on Atkinson's thigh with his hand. Atkinson seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Deryabyn paying attention? Apparently not!
