PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Efriam Haldi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonatan Jose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Efriam Haldi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonatan Jose!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haldi shoots in but Jose avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jose wants to land a leg kick but Haldi is out of range.
Jose fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Haldi manages to avoid it.

Jose scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Haldi is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rape Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Haldi checks a leg kick.

Efriam Haldi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jose gets caught flat footed, as Haldi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jose escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Haldi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jose is trying to control the position but Haldi postures up.

Jose looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Haldi passes into side control.

Haldi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jose keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jose is looking to regain half guard here but Haldi keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jonatan Jose dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jose tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Haldi defends well and Jose ends up having to push Haldi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Jose looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Haldi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well Jose has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
