Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Martin Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, RJ Cherubim!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cherubim tries to land a body kick
and Garcia counters with a nice body shot.
Cherubim has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Cherubim throws a body kick that misses.
Cherubim shoots for a double leg takedown but Garcia sprawls well. He's pushed Cherubim's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Garcia.
Cherubim darts in and clinches Garcia up against the cage.
Cherubim misses with a knee strike.
Cherubim wants the takedown. Garcia is fighting it off but Cherubim persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Garcia's guard against the cage.
Cherubim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garcia tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cherubim wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garcia tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Garcia might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cherubim lands some shots froms side control.

Cherubim tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Cherubim has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Garcia is not content to let Cherubim control the position.
Cherubim has hold of Garcia's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Garcia tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cherubim cranks the arm and Garcia screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Garcia, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
