Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Latham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latham comes to the cage accompanied by Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches. Mario Ribeiro has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Latham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latham tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ribeiro swivels and escapes.
Latham changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ribeiro tries to avoid it but Latham manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ribeiro to the ground. Ribeiro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Latham misses with a looping left.
Ribeiro keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Latham.

Ribeiro closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Latham to the mat! Latham manages to get full guard.
Latham is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ribeiro trying to control but Latham is working from the bottom.

Ribeiro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ribeiro won't allow Latham to sweep him here.
Latham throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Latham looks to score with a jab to the body but Ribeiro is just out of range.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ribeiro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ribeiro has gone for a leg lock! Latham slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ribeiro's guard.

Ribeiro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ribeiro has his foot on Latham's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Latham works his way back into a safe position though.

Latham throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ribeiro bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Latham is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ribeiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Latham keeps working.
Ribeiro is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Ribeiro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Latham, who protects the arm well.

Ribeiro is looking to take a break and control but Latham is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ribeiro tries for a kimura but Latham is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ribeiro rushes Latham and presses him up against the cage.

Latham has Ribeiro pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Latham pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ribeiro tumbling to the mat - Latham dives into Ribeiro's guard.
Latham is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Latham throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Latham throws a push kick but Ribeiro slaps the foot to one side.
Latham thows a body shot but no joy.

Ribeiro drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ribeiro tries to free his leg and advance position but Latham is retaining full guard.

Ribeiro drops back, looking for a kneebar! Latham looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Latham looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Latham!
Ribeiro manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Ribeiro stalling away here and it's allowed Latham to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Ribeiro slips a jab from Latham.
Ribeiro gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Latham.
Ribeiro avoids the body shot from Latham.
Ribeiro takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.


It looks like Mario Ribeiro has been cut.
Nice uppercut lands for Latham. That snapped Ribeiro's head back.
Latham misses with a leg kick.
Latham connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ribeiro. Ribeiro circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Latham stuffs the takedown attempt from Ribeiro. Ribeiro gets slowly back to his feet.
Latham misses with the combination.
Latham throws a lazy right hand but Ribeiro sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Latham tests Ribeiro's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ribeiro uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Latham.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Latham showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ribeiro has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
