The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Mitchell as Shinata shoots in.

Mitchell is trying to work for a sweep but Shinata has mounted him!

Shinata is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mitchell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mitchell shrugs it off.
Mitchell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shinata. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shinata looking to secure an arm triangle but Mitchell defends it well.

Shinata has control of Mitchell 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mitchell regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shinata working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Mitchell turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shinata off and cradles Mitchell 's limp body as Shinata celebrates with his corner.
