Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Fitness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kornelius Bobulus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kornelius Bobulus!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bobulus takes the fight into the clinch.
Bobulus tries to land knees in the clinch but Fitness avoids the damage to the body.

Fitness tries to circle away but Bobulus has him pinned against the cage.

Fitness wants to break the clinch but can't.

Bobulus turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Fitness tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Bobulus is looking for a rear naked choke here but Fitness reverses the position brilliantly into Bobulus's guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bobulus holds on and takes a little breather.
Bobulus keeping moving, preventing Fitness from controlling successfully.
Fitness knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bobulus on the ground.
Fitness throwing strikes but missing.
Fitness throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bobulus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bobulus is looking for a triangle but Fitness pushes his legs off easily.

Fitness drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bobulus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bobulus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bobulus!

You can see the frustration on Fitness's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bobulus stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Bobulus has clasped his hands together around Fitness's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Fitness is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fitness is letting Bobulus control him for a moment.

Bobulus stands up and beckons Fitness to his feet.

Bobulus closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fitness prevents Bobulus from breaking the clinch.
Fitness is trying to break free.

Bobulus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bobulus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bobulus clinches up with Fitness and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bobulus decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fitness tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bobulus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bobulus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Fitness cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fitness is looking to clinch.
Fitness fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fitness misses with a wild combination.
Fitness tries to clinch but Bobulus moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bobulus closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fitness quickly recovers to half guard.

Bobulus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fitness wants to get back to his feet but Bobulus is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bobulus thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Bobulus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fitness's guard.

Bobulus drops back looking for a leg! Fitness is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fitness manages to kick Bobulus off! Bobulus jumps back into Fitness's guard.

Bobulus thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bobulus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fitness's head.

Bobulus is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bobulus decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fitness, up you get!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bobulus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fitness prevents Bobulus from moving into mount.

Bobulus is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fitness is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fitness is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bobulus has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Bobulus has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bobulus pushes Fitness up against the cage in a clinch.

Bobulus has Fitness pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bobulus pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fitness tumbling to the mat - Bobulus dives into Fitness's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kornelius Bobulus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitness enables Bobulus to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitness manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fitness can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bobulus controls the pace.

Bobulus stands up and waves to Fitness to follow him.

Bobulus throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fitness tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bobulus is in Fitness's guard.

Bobulus is working Fitness over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bobulus fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fitness to the ground. Bobulus is now in Fitness's guard.

Bobulus stands and steps away. Fitness gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bobulus looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fitness wants to get back to his feet.
Bobulus controlling the pace.
Bobulus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bobulus frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kornelius Bobulus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bobulus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
