PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Strike Super (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marek Strzelba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marek Strzelba was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Strike Super!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marek Strzelba!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strzelba darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Strzelba not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Strzelba passes to full mount!
Strzelba throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Strzelba is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Super can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Super really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Strzelba throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Super because Strzelba loaded up on that one.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Strzelba is working for a guillotine from mount but Super frees his head quite easily.

Super is trying desperately to improve position.
Strzelba looking to control but Super is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Super keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Super tries to lock up and control but Strzelba gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Strzelba wants to control the pace but Super is squirming around nicely.

Strzelba just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Strzelba is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Strzelba thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Strzelba has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Super.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Strzelba slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Super gets caught flat footed, as Strzelba shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Strzelba throws a big right hand that misses.
Super working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Strzelba.
Strzelba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Strzelba content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Super is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Super stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Super wants it to stay on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strzelba is breathing heavily.
Super trying to control but Strzelba is working from the bottom.
Super wants to stand but Strzelba has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Marek Strzelba has got the better of the ground game so far.

Strzelba looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Super has picked Strzelba up and slammed him! Strzelba can't keep hold of the triangle and Super manages to pass to side control!
Strzelba pushes Super away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Super gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Super decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Strike Super is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Strzelba has closed the distance and engaged Super in a clinch.
Strzelba tries to pull guard but Super forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Super wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Super is trying to break the clinch but Strzelba is controlling him.

Super breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Strzelba closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Strzelba lands in his opponent's guard.

Strzelba working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Super's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Strzelba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Super looking to hit a scissor sweep but Strzelba is one step ahead there.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Strzelba decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Strzelba is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Super is just riding it out for now. Strzelba eventually gives up the hold.
Super keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marek Strzelba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Strzelba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Super can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Strzelba is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Super is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Strzelba keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Super's head.
Super is pulling down on Strzelba's head. It's preventing any offense from Strzelba, at least for the moment.

Strzelba gets to his feet - Super follows without any prompting.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marek Strzelba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Strzelba winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
