Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cal Trask (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Trask might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Onyx - Bacdafucup. Cal Trask has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cal Trask!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John John!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John tries to close the distance and clinch but Trask swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

John shoots in and drives through. Trask sprawls well.
John takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Trask fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but John is out of range.

and John counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and John counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by John.
John is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Trask pulls him back up using the underhooks.
John is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Trask misses with a knee to the head.

Trask wants to get back to striking at distance but John won't allow it.

Trask pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Trask misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from John.

John feints and as Trask raises his hands in defense, John changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Trask wants to sweep here but John controlling him for the moment.

John is looking to stand up but Trask won't let him.
Trask is pulling down on John's head. It's preventing any offense from John, at least for the moment.

Trask is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

John thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
John would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Trask throws a right and a left that John avoids nicely.
Nice uppercut lands for Trask. That snapped John's head back.
Cal Trask is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Trask looks to land a combination. John sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Trask looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

John bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

and John counters with a big head kick but Trask shrugs it off.
Trask throws a head kick but John moves out of range.
Trask darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
No joy there for Trask, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Trask looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The fight stays on the outside here - John looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Trask thows a body shot but no joy.
Trask misses the jab.

and John counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trask is on top in guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

John tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Trask paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Trask misses with a hook. John ducked under it nicely.

Trask is not content to let John control the position.

Trask is looking to regain half guard here but John keeps moving and retains side control.

John is breathing heavily.
Trask is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of John's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take John's back!
Trask is riding his opponent, not letting John buck him off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Trask has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
John tries to escape but Trask has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
I would not like to be John right now.

Trask is hanging on to John's back as he tries to escape.
Trask is looking to control John but John is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Cal Trask just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

John darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

John stalling away here and it's allowed Trask to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Trask wants to sweep but no luck.
Trask knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for John on the ground.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Trask's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Trask keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Trask clobbers John with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and John decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Trask's guard.

John drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Trask manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now John has Trask in his guard.
Trask has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Trask is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Trask is looking to stand up but John won't let him.
John takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Trask stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. John swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Trask gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Trask misses with a looping right.
Trask misses with a few strikes there.
Trask throws a combination but it was largely blocked by John.
Trask slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
John dodges the punch combination from Trask.
Trask swings for the body but John moves out of range.

John fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
John blocks a jab.
John shoots in and drives through. Trask sprawls well.
Cal Trask has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John John.
Trask misses with a low kick.

and John counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Trask wants to sweep here but John controlling him for the moment.
John advances to half guard.

Trask tries to get to full guard but John has control of the leg.
Trask is controlling John's trapped leg to prevent John from advancing to side control.

John seems to be looking for submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Trask makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Trask.
Trask pulls John in close to his closed guard and prevents John from doing any damage or advancing position.
John wants to pass the guard but Trask is keeping the position.

John has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Trask is proving hard to escape from.

I would just about give that final round to John John.
I think John has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
