Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Krisatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Monson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Igor Krisatov!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krisatov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Krisatov showed some decent athleticism there.
Monson is looking to control Krisatov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Monson avoid being mounted?
Krisatov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Krisatov thows a huge punch but Monson dodges it nicely.
Monson is not content to let Krisatov control the position.
Krisatov wants to stand but Monson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Monson wants to control but Krisatov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Krisatov trying to pass the guard but Monson defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Krisatov looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Krisatov thows a big elbow that misses.

Krisatov trying to control but Monson is working from the bottom.
Krisatov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Krisatov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Krisatov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Krisatov wants to pass the guard but Monson is keeping the position.
Krisatov wants to control from the top but Monson keeps moving.
Krisatov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Krisatov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Monson is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Krisatov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Horrible takedown by Krisatov or perhaps it was just good defense by Monson which made him look bad.

Monson misses with a takedown attempt

so Krisatov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krisatov wants to stand but Monson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Monson striking off his back but it's not causing Krisatov any problems.
Monson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Monson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Krisatov is controlling him.
Krisatov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Krisatov wants to get up but he can't break Monson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Monson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Krisatov is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Monson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Krisatov's back instead.
Monson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Monson is looking for the choke from the back position but Krisatov is controlling his hands well.
Monson is hanging on to Krisatov's back as he tries to escape.
Monson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Monson landing with strikes.
Monson has the hooks in. Krisatov is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Monson lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Krisatov trying to control the position but Monson manages to sink in the hooks.

Monson is cranking Krisatov's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Krisatov! He's tightened the choke and Krisatov is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jeff Monson!
