PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake The Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake The Snake struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jake The Snake acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake The Snake!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stien pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Stien will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Stien connects with a leg kick. The Snake looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stien stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Stien moves forwards but The Snake connects with a nice, crisp jab.

and The Snake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stien throws a big shot that misses.
The Snake needs to keep his hands up - Stien had a free shot at his head there.

The Snake has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The Snake displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stien throws out the jab.

Stien does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

The Snake cracks Stien with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Stien rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but The Snake moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Stien takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

The Snake is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Oooooh!!! Stien has knocked The Snake down with a huge combo! Stien steps away and waves a wobbly The Snake back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Stien has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

enabling Stien to counter with a crisp jab.

The Snake rushes Stien and presses him up against the cage.

The Snake is trying to maintain a safe position but Stien gets an underhook and turns The Snake into the cage.
Stien lands with a right to the head.
The Snake is trying to stall.

Stien breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

No joy there for Stien, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The Snake lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ben Stien's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
