Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Barry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorge Castro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Barry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorge Castro!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castro throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barry was covering up waiting for the punch and Castro finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Barry looking for a sweep. Not yet Barry, not yet.
Castro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Castro is standing up over Barry. Barry looks to escape but Castro dives into side control.
Castro tries to move to mount but Barry blocks the move with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castro looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Barry is avoiding damage well.

Castro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Castro is trying to get an arm triangle but Barry is defending well.
Castro wants to control for a moment but Barry uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Castro is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Barry keeping moving, preventing Castro from controlling successfully.

Castro trying to control the position from guard on top but Barry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Castro is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Castro shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Castro was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Castro swings around for an armbar but Barry sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Castro's guard.

Castro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Barry working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Castro's head.
Barry forces his way into half guard.
Castro holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Castro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barry is working away from the top position though.

Barry seems to be working for a kimura but Castro defends the submission attempt.

Barry drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Castro dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Castro looking to sit in guard and control but Barry gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Castro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castro is breathing heavily.
Castro has control of Barry's left arm, preventing Barry from doing any damage.
Castro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Barry landing some decent shots from guard.

Barry thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Castro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Barry tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Castro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Castro is trying to ground and pound but Barry uses the momentary lack of control by Castro to regain half guard.

Castro prevents Barry from improving his position.
Barry manages to get to full guard.
Castro sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Castro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Barry wants to clinch but Castro slips to the side
and Castro counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Castro looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barry is trying to get back to full guard.
Castro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castro is keen to just control but Barry is a slippery customer.
Castro tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Barry is trying to stand.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Castro thows a huge punch but Barry dodges it nicely.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Castro takes the fight into the clinch.
Barry is trying to break free.

Castro has Barry pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Castro pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Barry tumbling to the mat - Castro dives into Barry's guard.

Barry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like Billy Barry has been cut.

Castro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barry did well to prevent Castro getting side control.

Castro wants to get back to his feet.
Castro is trying to control. Barry wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Billy Barry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jorge Castro is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Castro has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
