Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Braxton Brinkley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niilo Hamalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamalainen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Face the Pain. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Niilo Hamalainen enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Braxton Brinkley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Niilo Hamalainen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brinkley.

Hamalainen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hamalainen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hamalainen is staying tight to Brinkley's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Let's hope that Hamalainen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Hamalainen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brinkley is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hamalainen is controlling him well.

Hamalainen lands a big shot there that rocks Brinkley but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hamalainen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Hamalainen.

Hamalainen cracks Brinkley with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hamalainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Brinkley's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Braxton Brinkley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brinkley moves into the clinch successfully.
Brinkley is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Brinkley tries to break the clinch but Hamalainen is controlling the position.

Brinkley misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Hamalainen.
Brinkley is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hamalainen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hamalainen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hamalainen struggles to land a body shot inside as Brinkley controls his hands.
Hamalainen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Brinkley is defending well.

Brinkley looks to land a combination. Hamalainen sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Hamalainen shoots in and drives through. Brinkley sprawls well.
Hamalainen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brinkley as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Brinkley was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Brinkley drives through and clinches with Hamalainen against the cage.

Hamalainen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brinkley can't fight it off and eventually Hamalainen manages to take the fight to the floor. Brinkley looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Hamalainen has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Brinkley lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Brinkley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brinkley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hamalainen, pushing him back against the cage.

Hamalainen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hamalainen manages to end up in side control.
Niilo Hamalainen has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brinkley wants to get back to his feet but Hamalainen drags him back down.
Hamalainen takes a little break here. Brinkley wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Braxton Brinkley will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hamalainen darts in looking for a takedown but Brinkley gets double underhooks and turns Hamalainen into the cage.
Brinkley is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hamalainen.
Brinkley throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brinkley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Brinkley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brinkley dives in and grabs Hamalainen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hamalainen pushes down on Brinkley's head and hops out.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hamalainen takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Brinkley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hamalainen is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Brinkley has managed to clinch.
Hamalainen keeps control of Brinkley as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hamalainen tries to score a body lock takedown but Brinkley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hamalainen can't get the takedown.
Brinkley unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Brinkley obliges.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Braxton Brinkley.
I think Brinkley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
