Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Calvin Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Lycka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brooks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 2nd Sucks - A Day To Remember. Calvin Brooks has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lycka napping and manages to drive through into side control!

We've been hearing good reports from Brooks's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Brooks remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lycka dives in for a single leg takedown but Brooks sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Brooks feints a jab promting Lycka to slip. Brooks then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lycka slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Lycka tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brooks defends well and Lycka ends up having to push Brooks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

JJ Lycka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
