The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright throws a push kick but Carney slaps the foot to one side.
Carney feinted with a counter takedown.
The crowd cheers as Carney lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wright doesn't seem phased though.

Wright gets a double leg takedown into Carney's guard.
Carney tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wright's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Carney trying to keep a closed guard but Wright is proving a slippery customer.

Wright is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Carney can't fight it off and eventually Wright manages to take the fight to the floor. Carney looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Carney preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Wright moves into range and clinches up with Carney.

Wright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Carney has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Carney is fighting to break Wright's control of his arms but Wright is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Carney wanted to stand there but Wright had control of the position.
Wright seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Carney will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wright manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Carney has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wright avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Wright has Carney pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Wright pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Carney tumbling to the mat - Wright dives into Carney's guard.

Sterling Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Wright is pushing down on Carney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carney is fighting to maintain full guard but Wright has managed to sneak the leg through.
Carney tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Carney is in trouble now - Wright has advanced to mount!
Carney reaches up to try and control the position but Wright seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Carney rolls and tries to escape and now Wright has his back!

Wright has got one arm under Carney's chin. This could be trouble... Carney trying to control the other hand but Wright gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Carney has tapped out! The fight is over!
