Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jos Rodri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Gilmore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jos Rodri!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilmore looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Gilmore gets a clinch.
Gilmore tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rodri smiles and moves away.

Gilmore drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilmore working away.
Rodri is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gilmore off and has taken his back!

Rodri gets his hands free as Gilmore looks to control.
Rodri slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Rodri controlling the position well here. Gilmore rolled but Rodri kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Gilmore tries to roll but Rodri sticks to his back.
Gilmore is covering up but some of the strikes from Rodri are getting through and doing damage.

Rodri is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

What can Gilmore do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gilmore is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Rodri is looking for the choke from the back position but Gilmore is controlling his hands well.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Rodri controlling the positon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rodri is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gilmore has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Rodri is trying to stick to Gilmore's back but Gilmore is turning into Rodri. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rodri's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gilmore.
Gilmore wants to control from the top but Rodri keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gilmore is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rodri is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Gilmore sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gilmore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gilmore won't allow Rodri to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodri working for a triangle but Gilmore defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gilmore scores with a head kick. Rodri tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shawn Gilmore will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Gilmore tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rodri defends well and Gilmore ends up having to push Rodri into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rodri throws a counter combo.

Gilmore forces Rodri back against the cage and clinches.
Rodri has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Rodri jumps guard and drags Gilmore to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rodri is trying to control the position but Gilmore postures up.
Gilmore won't allow Rodri to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodri preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rodri keeping moving, preventing Gilmore from controlling successfully.
Gilmore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gilmore slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Rodri keeping moving, preventing Gilmore from controlling successfully.
Rodri trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Gilmore trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodri is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Gilmore drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gilmore moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Rodri manages to get back to half guard.
Gilmore is looking to pass Rodri's guard but actually Rodri recovers to full guard.

Rodri has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gilmore off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Gilmore looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rodri is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Rodri swats away the attempt to clinch by Gilmore.

and Rodri counters with a one-two to the body.
Gilmore fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Gilmore. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gilmore has a takedown stuffed.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gilmore looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A close second round but Jos Rodri will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Gilmore feints and then cracks Rodri's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rodri down.
Gilmore doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rodri counters with a two punch combo.
Rodri keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gilmore gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodri to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gilmore has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rodri can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rodri wants to pass the guard but Gilmore is keeping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rodri gets to his feet. Gilmore looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gilmore tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rodri counters with a takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gilmore struggling a bit here.
The ground and pound from Rodri seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Rodri taking a breather here.
Rodri tries to move to mount but Gilmore blocks the move with his legs.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gilmore managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rodri.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Rodri closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rodri tries to pass to full mount but Gilmore defends it.
Rodri takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rodri wants to take a breather but Gilmore is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jos Rodri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rodri has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
