Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robin Shibalala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Garmany (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Garmany looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robin Shibalala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Garmany!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garmany fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Shibalala tries for a takedown but Garmany circles away easily

and Garmany counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shibalala's guard now.

Garmany avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Garmany won't allow Shibalala to sweep him here.

Shibalala is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shibalala has his foot on Garmany's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garmany works his way back into a safe position though.

Garmany gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Garmany drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Shibalala tries to buck Garmany off but Garmany is having none of it.
Garmany really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shibalala. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shibalala manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Garmany has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Shibalala is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shibalala is looking for a kimura but Garmany is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shibalala to get the leverage.

Garmany has one foot on Shibalala's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Garmany drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Shibalala will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Garmany wants to pass the guard but Shibalala is keeping the position.
Garmany postures up in Shibalala's guard and throws a big left but Shibalala blocks it.

Shibalala has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Garmany can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sam Garmany will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Shibalala gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Garmany counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Shibalala throws his legs up looking for a submission but Garmany uses it to pass to side control.
Garmany lands a nice forearm strike.
Shibalala on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Garmany decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Garmany tries for a takedown but Shibalala sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Shibalala gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sam Garmany has got the better of the ground game so far.
Garmany with a flurry of punches that miss.

Garmany has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shibalala is proving hard to escape from.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Garmany decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shibalala, up you get!
Garmany tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shibalala paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Garmany shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shibalala's guard.
Garmany wants to stand but Shibalala has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Garmany controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garmany with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Shibalala had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Garmany is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Shibalala Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Garmany's back instead.
Shibalala doesn't have the hooks in and Garmany manages to turn into his guard.

Shibalala working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Garmany doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garmany manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Garmany wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Shibalala's closed guard. He's half up but Shibalala has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Shibalala pivots and extends the arm, Garmany falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Shibalala! Well done that man!
