PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Wilson's choice of entrance music: Burn in My Light. Mark Wilson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Daley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daley avoids the body shot from Wilson.
Nice sprawl there from Daley as Wilson shoots in.

Wilson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wilson showed some decent athleticism there.
Wilson controlling the action here.

Wilson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Daley still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Daley has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Wilson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Wilson sneaks back into half guard.
Wilson is looking for a sweep. Daley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Daley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilson on the ground.
Wilson is controlling Daley's trapped leg to prevent Daley from advancing to side control.
Wilson is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Daley wants to stand but Wilson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Daley trying to control from Wilson's half guard. Wilson has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Daley has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wilson is proving hard to escape from.

Let's hope that Wilson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wilson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Wilson pulls Daley in close to prevent any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Wilson dominated that round.
That's time! Daley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Wilson closes the distance and clinches.

Wilson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Daley lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wilson backs up against the cage.


It looks like Mark Wilson has been cut.
No luck for Wilson with that takedown attempt.
Daley throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daley connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Daley lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Daley wants to clinch.
A left and a right from Daley both land. Nice combination.
Wilson is breathing heavily.
A good leg kick by Daley.
Wilson avoids the head kick by Daley.

Wilson slips a jab and a cross from Daley.
Wilson seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Daley shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Wilson is backing up but Daley catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Wilson covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Daley Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Daley!
