Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dog Alpha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gomez Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alpha is looking to control Adams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alpha avoid being mounted?
Adams thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Adams is looking to advance position but Alpha won't allow it.

Adams looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Adams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alpha as he jumps to the side.

Alpha changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Adams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Alpha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adams on the ground.

and Alpha decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adams's guard.

Adams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Alpha has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adams is working away from the top position though.
Alpha is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Adams is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Adams tries to pass the half guard into mount. Alpha knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Alpha counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Dog Alpha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gomez Adams.

Adams had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Alpha is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Adams Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Alpha's back instead.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Adams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alpha's waist but Alpha gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adams off to one side.

and Alpha counters with a low kick, right behind Adams 's knee.

Alpha closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Adams is looking for a sweep. Alpha is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alpha looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Adams lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Adams gets back to full guard.
Adams wants to sweep here but Alpha controlling him for the moment.
Alpha tries to free his leg and advance position but Adams is retaining full guard.

Dog Alpha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Alpha wants to stand but Adams has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Adams is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Alpha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Adams tries to pull guard but Alpha holds him up against the cage and eventually Adams drops back down to his feet.

Alpha breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Alpha! Adams is out on his feet! Alpha rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Adams is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Adams is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
