PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simon Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers tries to clinch up.
Jordan jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Rogers forces Jordan back against the cage and clinches.
Rogers fails to pull guard.

Jordan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rogers is trying to keep an underhook but Jordan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rogers keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Rogers has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers continues to stall.

Rogers kicks off Jordan and gets to his feet.

Jordan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jordan manages to break the clinch.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch but Jordan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rogers tries to sprawl but Jordan drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Rogers keeping hold of Jordan's head, controlling as best he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jordan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rogers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jordan wants to take a breather but Rogers is having none of it.
Rogers has his hands clasped together around Jordan's back. He's all about the action.

Rogers looking for submissions off his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jordan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rogers looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jordan wants to get back to his feet.
Rogers controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Rogers misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Rogers gets full guard.
Rogers has Jordan pulled in close to control his posture.
More hug and hope from Rogers.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jordan postures up in Rogers's guard and throws a big left but Rogers blocks it.
Jordan wants to control from the top but Rogers keeps moving.
Jordan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rogers is proving hard to escape from.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rogers holds on and takes a little breather.
Jordan wants to stand but Rogers is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rogers is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jordan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jordan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Jordan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jordan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rogers pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rogers tries to clinch there but Jordan circles away.

Jordan dives in and scores a takedown into Rogers's guard.
Rogers has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rogers is on top in guard.

Jordan looking for a sweep. Not yet Jordan, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers scoring with punches to the head and body.
Rogers is in close to Jordan's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Jordan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jordan manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Jordan's guard.
Jordan is trying to keep Rogers in close.
Jordan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rogers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Jordan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jordan manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Jordan's guard.
Jordan wants to control the position but Rogers says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jordan trying to get back to full guard but Rogers takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Jordan is trying to control the position here but Rogers swings around for an armbar and he's got it! This one is all over, courtesy of a slick submission by Rogers!
