Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Connor McGready (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas Lee is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor McGready!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Thomas Lee!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from McGready does no damage.
Lee with the counter takedown but McGready avoids it easily.
McGready leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McGready closes the distance and clinches.

Lee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McGready uses from the top position.

Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGready doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGready manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGready gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McGready knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lee on the ground.

McGready looking to sit in guard and control but Lee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lee sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McGready's guard.
McGready is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGready has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.

Lee thows a huge punch but McGready dodges it nicely.

Lee told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but McGready has wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McGready throws a sloppy body shot
and Lee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McGready lands with a straight right. Lee didn't see that one coming.
McGready misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

so Lee counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGready avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lee throws a big elbow that misses.
Lee passes easily into side control. Nice work.
McGready dodges the ground and pound from Lee.
Lee throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Lee lands an elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lee dives in and grabs McGready's left leg, looking for a takedown. McGready pushes down on Lee's head and hops out.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lee is on top in guard.

Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McGready to the mat! McGready manages to get full guard.
