PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Bronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bronson comes into the arena with Bronson Theme Song blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Jack Bronson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jack Bronson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Li!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bronson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Li to score an easy takedown into full guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Li working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bronson is pulling down on Li's head. It's preventing any offense from Li, at least for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Li avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bronson seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Li is in close to Bronson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Bronson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Li doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Li manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bronson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Li is aware though and is defending well.
Li distracts Bronson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Li wants to pass the guard but Bronson is keeping the position.

Li has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bronson to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Li is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bronson pulls down on the head and he's put Li to sleep! This one is all over!
