Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alex Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Burns!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Young gets tackled into the cage by Burns. Burns maintains the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Burns fails to land.
Burns with a knee to the head.
Young tries to score a body lock takedown but Burns shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A head punch on the inside from Burns fails to land.
Burns holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Young taking a breather.
Burns stalling the fight.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Burns.
Young has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Burns is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burns tightens his grip and picks Young up, before dumping him to the ground. Young manages to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns gets to his feet. Young looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Burns moves into range and clinches up with Young.
Burns misses with a body punch.
Burns gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Young.

Young looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Burns keeps control of Young as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Burns escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Burns misses with a double jab.
Burns shoots in looking for a takedown. Young tries to sprawl out of it but Burns keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Young manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Burns closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like James Burns has been cut.
Burns tries to clinch but Young moves out of range.

Burns swats away the attempt to clinch by Young.
Some wild striking there from Young.
Young plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Young pushes Burns up against the cage in a clinch.
Burns has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Young avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Young.
Young is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Young breaks from the clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Young. That's going to slow Burns down.
Young works over Burns's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Burns keeps the fight on the outside.
Young fails to land with a series of punches.

Burns fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Young, pushing him back against the cage.

Burns manages to pull guard.
Burns looking to control.
Young has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Young trying to control but Burns is working from the bottom.
Burns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Young got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Young has managed to get both his arms back between Burns's legs - danger averted.

Burns is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Young trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Young is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Burns is controlling Young's posture.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Burns will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on James Burns's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Young shoots in looking for a takedown. Burns tries to sprawl out of it but Young keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Burns shoots in for a takedown but Young shows good takedown defense.

Young looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Burns!

Burns is looking to regain half guard here but Young keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burns prevents Young from improving position.

Young tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Young trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Burns is looking to reverse the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
A lull in the action here as Young stalls from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Young fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


That has opened up James Burns's cut even more.
Alex Young is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Burns gets a clinch.
Burns has a couple of punches blocked by Young.

Burns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Young lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Burns circles away quickly and effectively.
Burns tries to clinch up but Young circles away and keeps his distance.
Burns doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Burns blocks a head kick by Young.
And Burns tries to counter it with a takedown but Young pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Young looks for the body kick but Burns saw that one coming.
Burns has a takedown stuffed.
Burns fails with the takedown
letting Young counter with a right hand.
Alex Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Burns.
The crowd cheers as Young lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burns doesn't seem phased though.
Young is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burns can do to turn this around?
Burns fails to land the takedown.
Burns is breathing heavily.
Burns thows a left - swing and a miss!

Young scores with a shot to the body.
Young throws a head kick that misses.
Alex Young is winning the standup battle so far.
Burns throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Burns slips a jab and a cross from Young.
A good leg kick by Young.
Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Young.
The fight stays on the outside here - Young looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Oooooh!!! Young has knocked Burns down with a huge combo! Young steps away and waves a wobbly Burns back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


The cut above James Burns's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burns scores with a shot to the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Burns crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Young - the referee stops the clock and Burns gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Young. Burns manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Young darts in looking for a takedown but Burns gets double underhooks and turns Young into the cage.
Young shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Young tries to clinch but Burns is having none of it.
Young throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Young getting the better of the striking in that exchange.


James Burns's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Alex Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Young lands a left and a right that send Burns crashing to the mat, dazed. Young thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Burns is rocked!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Burns's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Alex Young!
