PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Owen Orwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Orwell might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Nuclear. Diaz has chosen Queen - We are the champions (mariachillout) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owen Orwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlos Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Orwell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Orwell wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Orwell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Orwell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Diaz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Orwell passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Orwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Orwell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Orwell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Orwell is pushing down on Diaz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diaz is fighting to maintain full guard but Orwell has managed to sneak the leg through.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Orwell is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A jab lands there for Diaz.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Orwell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Orwell counters with a three punch combo that has Diaz backing up. Diaz nods at Orwell to acknowledge the strikes.
Diaz throws a body shot but no joy.
Diaz swings for the body but Orwell moves out of range.
Orwell shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed Orwell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Despite the aggression on Diaz's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Diaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Diaz ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Diaz connects with a body shot that sends Orwell's belly button to the back.

Good leg kick by Diaz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Orwell defending well as Diaz loads up on a big left hand.
Diaz is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Orwell rather than just go for the knockout.

Diaz drops Orwell with a beautiful combination! Orwell stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Diaz is looking for the KO!

A nice leg kick lands there from Diaz.

Orwell is looking to counter the offense by Diaz and move into the clinch.
Carlos Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz cracks Orwell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Diaz has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Orwell to stand back up!
Oh Orwell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz cracks Orwell with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carlos Diaz!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Carlos Diaz waved his t-shirt featuring AnonymouS's logo in front of the cameras.
