Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samak Tiyapairat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiyapairat comes into the arena with Ram Muay blaring out of the sound system. Samak Tiyapairat has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin James!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tiyapairat swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
James throws a series of strikes that have Tiyapairat backpedaling.
James fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
It appears Tiyapairat was looking to counter with a kick there.
Tiyapairat throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
It seemed like James was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

James gets tackled into the cage by Tiyapairat. Tiyapairat maintains the clinch.
Tiyapairat looking to throw knees to the head but James is blocking nicely.
We've been hearing reports that Tiyapairat has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

James throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tiyapairat tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. James is in Tiyapairat's guard.

James wants to control from the top but Tiyapairat keeps moving.

James throws a hook to the side of Tiyapairat's head but Tiyapairat sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A quick step to the side and Tiyapairat tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James throws an elbow that misses. Tiyapairat uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in James's guard. Nice move by Tiyapairat!

James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tiyapairat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
James controls Tiyapairat momentarily but Tiyapairat frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

James fails to land with a series of punches.
James moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
James shoots in for a takedown but Tiyapairat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Tiyapairat looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kevin James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


The fighters circling - James throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
James keeps the fight on the outside.

James dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Tiyapairat. That did some damage!
Tiyapairat looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

James shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tiyapairat's guard.

James has gone for a leg lock! Tiyapairat slips out almost immediately though and dives into James's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
James is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tiyapairat!

Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
