PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Randolph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Papi Papov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Papi Papov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyler Randolph!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Papi Papov!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randolph fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Papov avoids it really well and circles away.
Left hook, right uppercut from Papov.


It looks like Tyler Randolph has been cut.

Papov takes the fight into the clinch.
Randolph prevents Papov from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Papov is leaning against Randolph and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Randolph wants a takedown but no success here.

Papov jumps guard and drags Randolph to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Papov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Randolph defends it easily.

Papov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Randolph is controlling him.
Papov has his hands on Randolph's head, controlling the position.
Papov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Papov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Papov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Randolph pinned against the cage. Randolph gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Randolph shoots in for a takedown but Papov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Papov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Randolph is breathing heavily.
Randolph tries to clinch but Papov is having none of it.

Papov is pressed up against the cage. Randolph has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Papov down to the mat. Papov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Randolph is fighting to break Papov's control of his arms but Papov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Papov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Randolph defends well and Papov ends up having to push Randolph into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Randolph. No joy for Papov on that attempt.
Randolph was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Papov is trying to pull guard but Randolph turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Tyler Randolph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Papi Papov.

Randolph goes for a takedown attempt but Papov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Randolph changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Papov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Papov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Randolph is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Papov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Papov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Randolph wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Papov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Randolph has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Papov tries to buck Randolph off but Randolph is having none of it.

Papov is still trying to improve position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Papov wants to control but Randolph postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Papov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Randolph avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Randolph is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Papov thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Papov wants to hit a switch here but Randolph passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Papov there!

Tyler Randolph overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Papov wants to improve his position but Randolph is controlling well.
Randolph stops Papov from getting back to his feet.

Randolph is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Papov is just riding it out for now. Randolph eventually gives up the hold.

Papov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Randolph manages to get himself to full guard.


Randolph has his feet on Papov's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Randolph wants to take the fight to the mat but Papov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Papov has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Randolph is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Randolph tries to score a body lock takedown but Papov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Papov pushes Randolph back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Randolph prevents a takedown attempt there.

Papov breaks from the clinch.
Randolph on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Papov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Randolph as he avoids it easily.

Randolph tries to keep at a distance but Papov has taken the fight into the clinch.
Randolph drops down looking for an ankle pick but Papov pulls his leg out and moves away.

Papi Papov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Papov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
