PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dakker Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bembol Oblaks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oblaks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Wrestler by Bruce Springsteen kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Dakker Kane has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dakker Kane seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dakker Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bembol Oblaks!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oblaks throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.
Oblaks shoots for a double leg takedown but Kane sprawls well. He's pushed Oblaks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kane moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Oblaks swinging wildly here.
Nice jab there from Kane.
Kane definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kane blocks a head kick by Oblaks.
A lazy left from Kane finds it's target.

Kane shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kane showed some decent athleticism there.
Kane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Oblaks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Oblaks felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Kane controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kane is trying to work for a kimura but Oblaks is defending well.
Kane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Oblaks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kane moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Oblaks.
Oblaks can't do much from the bottom here.

Kane is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oblaks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Oblaks wants to get back to his feet.

Kane is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Oblaks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Oblaks tries to improve position but can't.
Kane trying to control the action but Oblaks is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Oblaks is looking to reverse the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Oblaks is being controlled here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Oblaks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kane manages to avoid it.
Kane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kane lands a jab.
Oblaks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kane throws a good cross that connects.
Oblaks takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Kane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Oblaks. That did some damage!
Oblaks darts in looking for a takedown but Kane gets double underhooks and turns Oblaks into the cage.
Dakker Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bembol Oblaks.
Oblaks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kane is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice sprawl there from Kane as Oblaks shoots in.
Kane lands a nice hook to Oblaks's body. Oblaks takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakker Kane dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kane feints and as Oblaks raises his hands in defense, Kane changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kane stops Oblaks from standing up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Oblaks is on top in guard.

Kane keeping moving, preventing Oblaks from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oblaks is aware though and is defending well.
Kane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Oblaks manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane won't allow Oblaks to sweep him here.

Oblaks looking for subs off his back but Kane has passed one foot through into half guard.

Kane is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Oblaks is just riding it out for now. Kane eventually gives up the hold.
Oblaks is looking for a sweep. Kane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kane wants to take a breather but Oblaks is having none of it.

Kane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kane seems to be working for a kimura but Oblaks defends the submission attempt.
Dakker Kane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oblaks trying to control here.

Kane is pressing down on Oblaks's thigh, looking to free his foot. Oblaks is holding on for now.
Kane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oblaks keeps working.

Kane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Oblaks looking for submissions off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kane throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kane darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Oblaks closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kane scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Oblaks doesn't seem bothered though.
Kane pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Oblaks trying to control but Kane postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Oblaks pushes Kane off, looking to escape but Kane dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Oblaks is forced to tap! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dakker Kane!
