Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Watson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Watson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Keller!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Jim Keller has been cut.
Good exchange - Keller coming out on top.
Watson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Keller is looking for the big counter here.

Watson instigates a clinch.
Keller tries to circle away but Watson has him pinned against the cage.
Watson is trying to break the clinch but Keller has him pressed against the cage.

Keller decides to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Keller is on top in guard.

Watson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Keller with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Keller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Keller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Keller showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Watson controls Keller momentarily but Keller frees himself.
Keller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Watson tries to clinch but Keller moves out of range.
Keller takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Watson connects with a looping right hand.
Watson shoots for a takedown but Keller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Keller. Watson shrugs it off though.
Watson is breathing heavily.
Watson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Keller throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Frank Watson has been cut.
Keller moves in looking to clinch but Watson pushes him off.

Keller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Keller decides to stand up, so the ref orders Watson to his feet.
Keller connects with a high kick.
Keller stuns Watson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Keller drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Keller sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Keller sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Watson's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Keller decides to stand and escape the position.

Keller closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Watson did well to prevent Keller getting side control.
Watson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Keller on the ground.
Keller is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Watson is trying to escape the mount.
Keller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Keller with a couple of short strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Keller dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nice uppercut there from Keller.
Watson throws a sloppy head kick
and Keller counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Jim Keller seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Keller fails with a takedown attempt.
Watson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Keller wants to counter with a clinch but Watson pushes him away.
Watson tries to clinch up but Keller circles away and keeps his distance.
Watson closes the distance but Keller moves to the side

and Keller counters with a head kick that drops Watson to the mat! Watson scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Watson is rocked!

Keller instigates a clinch.
Oh Watson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Watson jumps guard but Keller stands there with Watson around his waist. Watson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Keller gets control of Watson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Keller will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Watson seems to have got his legs back now.
Keller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Keller stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Watson to get to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Watson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Keller pinned against the cage. Keller gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Keller doesn't manage to clinch there - Watson circles away.

Watson gets tackled into the cage by Keller. Keller maintains the clinch.

Keller pulls guard effortlessly.
Keller lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Keller lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Watson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Keller controls the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Keller is in close to Watson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Keller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Watson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Keller is now in half guard.
Keller slows the pace down in half guard.
Keller working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Keller sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Keller scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Keller escapes and gets back to his feet.

Keller shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Watson is trying to defend but Keller finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Keller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Watson is looking for a sweep. Keller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Keller takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Watson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Watson tries to get out of the position.
Watson wants to get back to full guard but Keller has passed into side control.

Keller has hold of Watson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Watson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Keller cranks the arm and Watson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Watson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jim Keller!
