The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gatlin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cesar's guard.
Cesar looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gatlin tries to free his leg and advance position but Cesar is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Leonidus Cesar has been cut.

Cesar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gatlin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gatlin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cesar takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
